In the anniversary brochures of Jeunesse, only his last name appears: Gold and the 1938–1939 season, when he was coach. Denis Scuto tells us more about Max Gold, star of the Jewish football club Hakoah Vienna, professional in New York, later coach in Eastern Europe, before arriving at the border from Warsaw in September 1938. After one season at Jeunesse, with the outbreak of the war and the Nazi occupation of Luxembourg, a terrible time began for him as a Jewish refugee and for his family.
